Everyone loves a winner at their local Cup meeting and Glowing Rapids didn’t let the team down with a convincing victory at Seymour on Sunday. In glorious weather conditions and in front of a well attended crowd, the 4YO gelding led from the start in the Mitchelton Wines Maiden Plate over 1200m. Ridden by Jarrod Fry, the Valentia gelding began well and sustained a strong gallop throughout to score by a decisive two length margin over his nearest rival followed by a further two lengths to the third placegetter in a time of 1:10.59.

The lightly raced four-year-old has only finished out of the top three placings once in his five starts and deserved this victory for his Breeder and Owner, John Laidlaw. Unfortunately he couldn’t be on course to witness the win but it was a very emotional moment having raised the horse as an orphan after loosing his dam, Belaroc at foaling.

“He is not the easiest horse to handle and it was a great result for his owner who races the horse one out, he entrusts us with all the decision making which makes our job easier. We will talk to John over the next few days and give him options going forward but the manner in which he won he could win a few more placed right.” Co-Trainer,Shannon Hope on Racing .com
