La Meeting could not have been more impressive in recording his first win in the “C & M Build Group Maiden Plate” at Kilmore on Friday. Taking control of the race from the onset the Royal Meeting gelding set his own pace out in front and with no challengers he was able to dictate the tempo throughout under the guidance of jockey, Jarrod Fry. The three-year-old powered away from his opposition in the home straight to record an easy victory by 3.5L to his nearest rival.
Starting a short priced favourite the gelding had been knocking on the door with some good performances in his previous races and as Co-Trainer Lee explained
“He has taken a bit of working out how to ride him and we may have made some errors but today he settled lovely in front and showed what we knew he was capable of and looked quite nice going to the line. With the Seymour track under renovations we bought him here to gallop and he knew his way around and how to the handle the downhill run which is a bonus and we are very happy.”
Jockey, Jarrod Fry said “He was told by Shannon he can be a bit slow away and I told him not to worry I will make him begin and he began really well and I was going to take a sit but nothing wanted to lead. He travelled really well and gave a good kick and won with a fair bit in hand and can progress to city mid week grade.”
Bred by Stephen Hinchcliffe of Mangalore Park and raced in partnership with some well known Seymour Racing Club identites, CEO Chris Martin, SRC President Mardi Jarvis and former President Steve Clifton along with Sharna Jarvis, Tyler and Tony Best, Bill Pearce, Peter Elliott, long time stable clients Rick and Kieran Maloney and Trent Pennuto.
On behalf of the HR team we congratulate everyone on a brilliant win by La Meeting and no doubt there will be many more.
