Royal Lass was rewarded for her consistancy with another victory at Geelong on Friday in the Class 1 Handicap over 1150m. Scoring by the narrowist of margins the petite filly held off her challengers to record her second win from twelve starts under jockey Jye McNeil. Finally drawing a decent barrier the filly took full advanatge and settled third in a trailing position to give her an economical run in transit. Stalking the leading runners throughout the filly moved into the race approaching the home turn and typical of her fighting qualities she never gave up and found the line by a short head at the finish.
The Royal Meeting filly has shown a distinct liking for rain effected ground coming off two promising trials and a meritorious second at her opening race this campaign. With the Winter months ahead she should continue her good form and make her presence felt in her forthcoming races. Sporting the Mangalore Park racing colours she is bred and raced by principal Stephen Hinchcliffe along with fellow Seymour residents, Anthony Piper and Tim Eurell together with Wayne Buckingham, Phil Barnes, Brad Metcalfe and Steve O’Connell.
An interesting statistic for form followers, the Lee and Shannon Hope training partnership have an outstanding record when bringing runners to Geelong. From 25 starters, they have produced seven winners, striking at exceptionally high 28% winner ratio. Royal Lass joins fellow stablemates, Delta Sky and Cameron Falls to the recent list of winners at the Geelong track.
