Fire Tribe, a gelding racing in the peak form of his career records consecutive wins with another powerhouse display at Sandown on Easter Monday. With plans set aside after drawing the outside barrier in the Country Trainers final at Ballarat, the team reverted to their back up plan and chose to run at Sandown, three days later as the alternate option. A good decision by the team paid off with a small field of seven contesting the Stow Storage Solutions BM66 over 1400m.
Ridden by Ethan Brown, he allowed the five-year-old to settle in a comfortable rhythm at the rear of the small field. In a similar run race to Echuca, the leader, Sister Shay set a solid tempo up front and on entering the home straight put a big margin on the rest of the field. Not preturbed, the son of Contributer gradually wore into the margin by putting in the big strides over the final 300m to score on the line by 0.3L. Another exciting finish by the horse to capture his fourth win and take his earning over $186K from his 28 starts.
“The race set up really well for him, sustained speed throughout, he hit that flat spot which is a common theme for him, but once he straighten he swapped leads and powered well through the line. At this stage he is proven at 1400 but off the back of that you can’t see why they wouldn’t step him up in trip”. – Ethan Brown

Off the space of 29 days in between runs, it was a super training effort by the team to maintain his fitness and keep him mentally prepared. The application of a one-eye blinker was an astute gear adjustment and proved part of the winning formula.
“I thought he went well and anticipated the leader would run along and whether he could pick it up was problematical. His run at Echuca was good as well as today and he has learn to win. We bought him online for $30K and in fairness to Joe Pride he said the horse would suit being in the paddocks and in a country enviroment.” – Co Trainer Lee
