Pedigree:

By Champion Sire – “Sacred Falls”, Antonito inherits his good looks from his famous sire and we couldn’t resist acquiring another horse by our favourite sire to join our team. Sacred Falls was an outstanding racehorse and was fast becoming an exceptional sire until his untimely death in December 2019. It’s no surprise he reached enormous heights both on the racetrack and at stud carrying a combination of dominant genes from NZ Champion Sire, O’Reilly and Australasia super sire / broodmare sire, Redoute’s Choice.

“Sacred Falls defeated Pierro in the 2014 Gr 1 Doncaster Hcp and become the first horse in 19 years to win back to back Doncasters”

He entered Stud in 2015 and completed his fifth season at stud before his passing. He has left an edible mark producing multiple stakes winners in his short time at stud. Sire of 293 rnrs :- 197 winners, 12 SW’s inc :- Aegon, Icebath, Aromatic, Courier Wonder, Bella Waters, Eternal Flame etc.

“He had a wonderful temperament and really engaging personality, his loss will be felt by all of us” – Mark Chittick

Antonito hails from a prolific winning NZ family full of Stakes winners and Stakes placegetters. His Dam, Alpine Belle (Rock of Gibraltor) was unraced but has produced five foals for five winners. She is a half-sister to Stakes winners, Hasselhoof & Vercors (dam of SP – Vichy) and closely related to SW Jay Bee Gee and William Wallace. A tough NZ family littered with winners and versatility over array of distances in addition to carrying the female lines of Zabeel and Zamazaan.

A versatile female line with a winning distance range from 1000m to 2100m

Antonito (NZ)
15 starts: 4:2:1 – $104,295.00
Good: 6:2-1-1, Soft: 7:1-1-0, Heavy: 2: 1-0-0
Handicap Rating: 73 (Vic)

Antonito was purchased from the recent Inglis May (late) Online sale for $16,000.00. Apart from being by Sacred Falls he also appealed on a number of factors, lightly raced, sound confirmation and we strongly believe he hasn’t had an opportunity to reach his full potential. We hope by changing his environment to the relaxed country atmosphere and our style of training will help bring out the best in him. At this stage he is one dimensional in his races and either races on speed or leads. Our goal will be to teach him to relax and enjoy his work which will carry over into his races. It will be a challenge and if successful he is a metropolitan class horse with plenty of race options in Victoria. Based on his
pedigree he should be a sprinter/miler and typically of New Zealand bred horses is only reaching full maturity.

He last raced on May 13th and will have retained some residual fitness. He arrives into the stable tomorrow from Queensland and will go into full training after a few days of recovery. He handles the wet tracks and once he adapts to this way of racing will determine when he is ready to trial and proceed to the races.

“We are excited to offer this horse and confident he will be a good acquisition to the stable.

This may be the last opportunity to acquire progeny of Sacred Falls ” – Trainer Lee Hope
