Promising 3YO “Douzaines” gave his Owners a dozens reasons to be happy after a dominant win at Wodonga on Monday. Raced by a group of 12 close friends, headed by Breeders “Tony & Donna Buckley”, the lightly raced Mussee d’Orsay gelding easily accounted for his opposition in the Super Vobis O’Neill Homes Maiden Plate over 1400m. Ridden by Daniel Moor who made the most of the opportunity to ride for the stable, gave Douzaines a peach ride and summed up the race perfectly. Impressed by his performance, Daniel gave a glowing post race report and said “There is plenty of upside and when asked to respond he did but soon switched off when he hit the front and will be a better chaser when he learns his craft”. Douzaines, French for dozen, is a half brother to former stable horse, Decades.
Douzaines was not the only horse to impress on the day with his stablemate, “Bo Bardi” breaking her Maiden status in the following race to give the stable their second winner on the day. Bred by Alpara Lodge, the big Fastnet Rock filly has staying potential written all over her and the stable intend to follow an Oaks path with the Australasian Oaks in May her main target. It was great for Billy Egan to be rewarded with the ride who always obliges to help out with the stable when called upon.
