With limited runners throughout the summer months it was great to open 2026 with a metropolitan winner at Caulfield on Wednesday. The stable was successful with the talented galloper, Cameron Falls winning the “Vale Queman” BM66 event over 1200m on the Heath circuit.

Ridden by leading apprentice jockey Luke Cartwright, the horse settled mid field before drifting back towards the rear of the field. With the pace on, he was able to guide the gelding through the field and present to the outside. With a blistering turn of foot, the horse over powered the opposition to clear out for a comfortable 0.75L victory on the line. The five-year-old Sacred Falls gelding has now recorded three wins, four seconds and three thirds from his 18 career starts with prizemoney earnings in excess of $116K. As a result of the win he now carries a handicap rating of 68 and it would seem more city racing is in store for the horse.

Cameron Falls is out of blue blood mare, Pink Bubbles, herself retired to stud early due to injury, but is closely related to champions such as Darci Brahma and Burgundy, both sires in New Zealand. Melbourne Cup winner, Ethereal appears in the pedigree along with many other top rated Australian and New Zealand performers. With a lot of staying blood in the pedigree it appears Cameron Falls is more effective between the distances of 1200m to 1600m.

Purchased from the 2022 NZ Ready to Run Sale, the Sacred Falls five-year-old has had a troublesome and frustrating career due to minor set backs so the team is hopeful that is all behind him and he can enjoy some consistent racing ahead. There are no grandeur plans other than to work through his grades in preparation for a winter campaign.

Raced by a large group of Owners, on course to enjoy the win was first time Owner John Darmody pictured with stable stalwarts, Kevin & Sue Davey.  Co-Trainer, Lee  captured with his favourite horse.
