Champion jockey, “Craig Williams”, choose to remain off the fence for the entire race after discussing pre-race tactics with Co-Trainer, Lee. Concerned the fence was inferior ground the jockey was content to remain in a 3 wide position and settle the Starcraft mare just off the pace. Always travelling strongly, the pair made their move into the race on the home turn to hit the front and sustained the lead right through to the finishing line. It was a gutsy, determined effort by the mare and her return to the winners circle was a fitting result for the stable and her big support crew of Owners.

“Choose” provided long term dreams to several of her Owners whose ultimate goal was to own a winner at headquarters, Flemington. There were plenty of post-race celebrations and I believe finished well into the early hours the following day!

A product from the New Zealand “Ready to Run” Sale, The “Starcraft x Choices Are” filly was a popular choice with her current owners and was purchased for $80,000 by Lee. From her 10 starts, she has now recorded 4 wins and accumulated $114,320 in prizemoney earnings to date.
