“Fabulous Five”

Heading to Doomben races on Saturday, Blake Shinn carried a heavy heart. A year ago the stoic combination ofGuy Walter and Blake combined to win the Gr1 Doomben Cup with “Streama” which would be their last win together after the passing of Guy a few days later.

Filled with plenty of emotion it was going to be a tough day ahead as Blake entered the course for a fabulous book of rides. He certainly didn’t expect to set a new record at the famous Doomben track with 5 Stakes winners to be his career best day in the saddle.

“I was quietly confident I could have a good day but you can never be too confident going into any race meeting,” he said

“I was pretty emotional winning on “I’ve Got The Looks” who was formerly trained by Guy and she was the last winner for his wife, Wendy after she took over the training. He was probably riding with me all day and looking down on me” ……..
