What a better way to end 2016 by going out on a winning note and current stable star, Prima did just that at the final meeting of the year at Moonee Valley. Racing in ultra consistent form, the 5YO gelding by Sir Percy put in a career best performance in the “Smartline” Handicap over the Cox Plate distance of 2040m. Apprentice, Ben Thompson took the option to hold the lead on Prima and from then on controlled the race to suit his racing style. He completely out smarted his rival jockey’s by rating the horse to perfection and using the horses strength when needed. It was superb to watch as pint size Prima responded and gave his all to the finish line. A cheap purchase for his Owners, brothers Rob & Keith Tunnicliffe and friend Mark Brady, Prima takes his earnings to $159,051 from 24 career starts and gives him his fourth win since crossing the Tasman as a 3YO.
