Locally trained filly, Royal Lass made it a one act affair to record her first win in the Seymour Insurance Maiden Plate at Seymour on Friday. It was a masterful showing by the three-year-old filly, who jumped into the lead and never looked like giving it up over the 1100m trip with Jarrod Fry steering her to the win by 2.25L. Luckless in her previous three starts albeit with multiple excuses, the filly began smartly with the addition of Winkers and once in the lead it took bad luck out of the equation.
The Training duo of, Lee and Shannon, were thrilled with her win especially being on her home track as she is raced by major sponsors of the Seymour Racing Club, “Mangalore Park and Boss Plumbing”. The Royal Meeting filly was bred by Mangalore Park principle, “Stephen Hinchliffe” from his handy mare, Albert’s Lass. Raced in conjunction with Boss Plumbing principles, “Tim Eurell and Brad Metcalfe” together with local identity “Anthony Piper, Phillip Barnes, Stephen O’Connell and Wayne Buckingham”, all close friends of Co-Trainer Shannon Hope, making it a special win all round.
