After four years under Racing Victoria’s Apprentice Jockey Training Program, stable Apprentice Tahlia Hope graduated this month along with 10 other Victoria based Apprentices. It is interesting to note that of the 11 graduates, 8 are female riders who have to date forged a successful career as an apprentice in both the Metropolitan and Provincial areas.

The RV AJTP course is not only designed to refine their skills in the saddle but in many other areas that will help stand them in good stead in their futures. The program offers specialist learning in sport science and sports medicine, as well as media training, finance and business skills. Significantly the program prepares riders for the transition as a professional jockey and also develops them into high performance athletes.

Tahlia is probably the youngest in the group and pictured below in her induction back in 2013 as a young 15YO. Since then she has nearly outridden her country claiming allowance with 70 winners thus far and achieved a milestone many jockeys aspire to by riding a quartet of winners at Echuca this month.

On behalf of everyone from Hope Racing we congratulate Tahlia on her achievements.
