Seymour Trainers, Lee and Shannon Hope saddled promising filly “Scillato” to score her second win from as many starts at Bendigo on Sunday. The three-year-old filly lined up in the “Hunter Equine Centre” BM64 over the sprint course of 1100m with Cory Parish in the saddle. Although racing greenly over the final stages of the race she still proved far superior for her more experienced rivals and in the end it was a runaway victory to record a time just outside the course track record.

Co Trainer Shannon said,

“She seems to have alot of upside if she learns to settle but she did settle much better today that’s why we elected to place the crossover on her and going forward hopefully she will get over a trip”.

If pedigree is any indication, Scillato should handle more distance given time and maturity. She is out of former stable mare, Supre a daughter of High Chapparel who won from 1400m to 1600m for the Hope team. Supre is out of a Reset mare, also a source of stamina being by champion sire, Zabeel. The filly is the only progeny of Supre who sadly died the following year after her birth.

Owned and bred by Greg and Jenny White, principals of Alpara Lodge who raced top class Stakes winning fillies of their era in Fenway, Sabatini and Pittsburgh Flyer. She may have big shoes to fill to measure up to their calibre but she is on an upward projectory and her potential is unlimited. The filly will step out at Flemington in a few weeks for her next assignment.
