“Sneferu scores at Seymour”

Named after the founder of the 4th dynasty during the Old Kingdom of Egypt, “Sneferu” did his namesake proud with an impressive performance at Seymour on Thursday to take out the Carlton Mid Maiden Plate over 1400m.

Blessed with good looks and untapped talent, the 3YO “Street Cry”gelding started a short priced favourite after an eye catching debut at Bendigo last month when narrowly beaten. Stepping up slightly in distance and on his home track, a confident and well judged ride by “Andrew Mallyon” enabled the gelding to be perfectly poised in transit. A change of course in the straight kept his momentum going and he powered to the line to score by a half length margin.

Owned by “Grant & Margie Sheldon with their sons, Kyle & Joel” gave them their second winner for the month following on from “Cruise Missile”. Bred under their banner – “Macedon Park” they source well bred and performance based mares for their boutique operation. Sneferu is the first foal from highly talented Stakes winning mare, Mrs Kipling purchased a few years ago for the purpose of breeding a good one!

Co-Trainer, Lee has always held “Sneferu” in high regard and will now give the horse a short let up to prepare for the later part of the 3YO season.“He has plenty of scope and will relish the softer tracks and more ground. He will make into a lovely horse in time” commenting after the race.

Sneferu continues the terrific run by ill fated Sire, “Street Cry” and joins fellow stablemates, Sabatini and Pittsburgh Flyer as recent winners from the stable by the Champion Sire.

We congratulate the Sheldon family on the terrific win of “Sneferu” and look forward to this gelding flying the flag for the team in the coming seasons.
