Special Mission at Benalla
A special mission was accomplished at Benalla when stable debutant,“Cruise Missile” cruised to a comfortable win and take out the “Lindsay Park Racing Maiden Plate” over 1200m in the opening race on the program. Later in the day, “Miss Hissy” ended a great few days of racing for the team with a brave fighting win in the “Sportsbet’s 58 Handicap” over 1600m.
“Cruise Missile” a 3YO son of “Redoute’s Choice x Special Mission”displayed true professionalism on debut to lead all the way and give jockey, Dean Holland an armchair ride. It was great result for his Owners and Breeders, “Grant & Margie Sheldon of Macedon Park” who race the horse in partnership with their good friends “Terry & Nicole Powell”. It was double celebrations for the “Powells” being first time Owners as well as celebrating Nicole’s birthday!
The stable continued their run of good form when “Miss Hissy”determinedly fought off her rival to provide the second leg of the stable double. The 4YO mare by “Golden Snake” is from our former tough racemare “Wehaveadream” and was bred by “Mario & Sam Cristiano” who race the mare in partnership with their wives.
“Miss Hissy” stalked the leader and settled beautifully in transit for jockey,Andrew Mallyon. After taking over the lead in the straight, she showed similar fighting qualities as her mother when challenged but was too strong on the line to draw away for a 3/4 length win with 5.25L to the third placegetter.
After 11 runners over the past 4 days, the stable is ticking over nicely with 3 winners, 3 seconds, 2 thirds and presently has the best overall strike rate in Victoria in the top 30 Trainers statewide. Currently placed 22 on the Victorian Trainers Premiership with a 21.43% strike rate is testament to alot of hard work and a dedicated team behind us. Hopefully the run continues as we head into the next phase of racing over the Autumn period.
