“Teramia” was most impressive in taking out the $50,000 Ladbrokes Mates Mode Handicap over 1000 metres at Sandown’s Ladbrokes Park Hillside on Wednesday. Only recently joining the Hope Racing team and having her second start for the father-son training duo of Lee and Shannon Hope, the five-year-old daughter of Deep Field and Pimpinella, tightened in the market from $8.50 to $6.50. Patiently ridden by the in-form apprentice Alana Kelly, she defeated The Sisters by one and a half lengths with the $3.30 favourite,Sugartown a short-half-head away third.

After the win, Trainer Lee Hope said the mares future racing career was limited as the owners are keen to send the valuable mare to stud in the forthcoming breeding season where she is likely to be covered by Darley stallion, Pinatubo.

Initially beginning her education with the Hope Racing stable before moving across to other yards over the past three years, the victory gave us great satisifaction to get an important result for long time and loyals clients, Grant and Margie Sheldon.

The mare has now won three races with five minor placings from her 16 starts and will be a very valuable addition to the breeding ranks when she enters the next stage of her career.
