Delta Sky recorded her first win at Geelong on Sunday since joining the Hope Racing team. In her second race start for the stable the mare stepped up to the 1500m and relished the extra distance for a soft victory at the finish. Ridden by the inform Jarrod Fry who has enjoyed considerable success for the stable over the past month, placed the mare in the box seat after the first 100m. Enjoying a good run in transit, the pair took control of the race entering the home straight and proved too strong in the Roderick Insurance 58 Handicap defeating Queen Beira and Treasury Place for the minor placings.
The good looking Toronado mare was purchased from the Inglis Online sale in May and is raced by a mixture of old and new clients headed by the Hope Racing Business Manager, Tony Buckley. Joining the partnership are former clients, Mark Adams, Frances McLean-Grant and Margaret Wishcusen who all raced the talented mare Choose and Kim Derriman of Rainbow Division fame are pictured in the winners circle. The Babalola boys, Frank Macheda with the Brown brothers, Craig, Lachlan, Hayden and Joel are also involved in the ownership group with new owners, Jordan Caleo and Dale Weidenbach. Loyal and longtime clients Ronald and Sharie Bannear gifted shares to daughters, Penny Beynon,Gin Howley and Caroline Tierney who had the thrill of their first winner. Lastly the Saniqua7 Racing syndicate headed by Manager Michael DeNavi rounds off the ownership group of 25 people involved.
